What “extract” means in SAND

A run only creates progression when useful resources return with you instead of being lost to damage, delay, or another crew. Finding loot is not the finish line.

Treat extraction as the final raid phase: enter with a purpose, collect enough value, disengage, and complete the current mode’s return condition with the crew coordinated and the Trampler operational.

How to extract step by step

  1. Choose a return threshold

    Before departure, decide what ends the raid: a target artifact, enough repair material, low ammunition, critical damage, or storm pressure that no longer justifies another stop.

  2. Keep the Trampler ready to leave

    Avoid terrain, wreckage, or enemy fire that can trap it. Preserve mobility, repair capacity, and a clear boarding route for every crew member.

  3. Secure priority loot

    Move valuable items into the safest available storage and confirm they are in the inventory or vehicle state that returns with you.

  4. Break contact early

    Extraction starts before the exit. Stop opening new locations and avoid optional duels once the run has met its purpose.

  5. Follow the current mode cue

    Use the map, objective text, and interaction prompt shown by your current build. Reach the valid return condition together.

  6. Confirm the result

    Wait for the result or inventory transition. If rewards are missing, note the mode, crew state, and any disconnect so a gameplay mistake can be separated from a bug.
